Alterar a password do user root:
Desbloquear o user root
Reset do user shd-admin sem saber a password
1º Passo:
5º passo
Alterar a password
6º Passo
10º passo
Voltar a fazer login com sucesso.
Espero ter ajudado!

If you ever come across with this type of message , ‘Password expired’, when logging into SHD UI with ‘shd-admin’ user…just happen with me recently and i wanted to share all the challenges and findings i came across :
After blocking the root user after 4 attempts (it happens 😊) here are my 3 challenges to gain access again to this fantastic to collect, analyze and recommend solution for some use cases…(PSODs, firmware, etc)
root user password chance:
unlock root user
Reset to shd-admin user without having current password
1º Step:
Open VM console and do ‘Restart Guest OS’ click ‘e’ on the keyboard to get to above menu,
2º Step
just add ‘’rw init=/bin/bash’’ like the image below.
3º Step
Click ‘F10‘
4º Step
Just write ‘’passwd’’ on command line like shown in picture above,
5º Step
Change password
6º Step
Unlock root user password (Like i had mentioned before i have blocked after 4 attemps) and do as follows:
‘pam_tally2 –user root’ – to check if its blocked
‘pam_tally2 –user root –reset’ – to unlock
‘pam_tally2 –user root’ – to check its unlocked
Next, just do a appliance restart with the command ‘reboot -f’
7º Step
After restart, we can make login with root account and reset to user shd-admin.
with the command ‘shd-config resetadmin’
8º Step
If you know the current password, just add it and make the reset. If you do not have the current password just click ‘Enter’ and confirm with a ‘YES’, like image below,
9º Step
After changing the password in accordance with the security rules defined below, we will receive the message – Password change for “shd-admin” completed. And we can now ‘exit’ to logoff
Will be installed on next OS Restart’

“We strongly recommend updating your Skyline Collector to v3.2 to take advantage of all the new features, as well as upcoming features in subsequent releases. If you have the Auto-Upgrade feature enabled, note that we have detected an issue with Auto-Upgrade when running Skyline Collector version 3.1.0.0. Any Skyline Collector running v3.1.0.0 will not perform automatic upgrade to v3.2. We have identified a resolution for the issue in KB89230. Manual upgrades will complete without incident, and all Skyline Collector versions before and future versions we release after v.3.1.0.0 are not impacted by this issue and should auto upgrade as expected. All your Collectors must be on v3.0 or above to access Skyline Advisor Pro, which is smarter, easier and 12X faster than Skyline Advisor”

I have already done it in 2 of my customers without any issue, it’s a very straight forward upgrade. Allow me to help you with that showing you how it is done:
1 – Login in Collectors UI
You will see the upgrade orange bar option for upgrade like above,
2 – Click on ‘UPGRADE’
3 – Accept the ELA, (Click ‘AGREE’)
4 – Click “UPGRADE”
Then we will see the upgrade taking place, (5/10 minutes)
When it finishes you have to login again and wait more or less 15 minutes for all collectors and endpoints to start communicating as usual.

What’s New in 3.0.0, November 2021 Release
Scheduled Tasks
Scheduler feature can be used to run periodic health checks on VMware vCenter/vSAN Server or VMware Cloud Foundation instances.
Added Support for External User using VMware vCenter Server as an authentication provider
You can configure Skyline Health Diagnostics to allow access to any accounts that have permissions on any vCenter Servers.
This allows you to indirectly use Active Directory/LDAP based user authentication using vCenter as Authentication Proxy.
Executing vCenter Health Checks from Scheduler and Diagnostic workflow
You can run basic health check of VMware vCenter Server as part of diagnostics workflow or as a scheduled workflow.
Certificate expiry, Disk space, service status and resource usage can be periodically checked using this feature.
Added VCG Compatibility Checks as a new category
You can run Hardware Compatibility checks for ESXi server using new “VCG Check Plugins” category.
This option collects just enough data using a light weigh API based data to run VCG compatibility
Added Offline Diagnostics Support for VMware Cloud Foundation log bundles
You can now upload Support Bundles (collected using SOS utility) from VMware Cloud Foundation instances to run diagnostics
Usability Improvements
“Skip SSL Verification” option has been removed favoring “Trust on First Use” implementations. Prior to this release, UI had option to Skip SSL Certificate verification when connecting to HTPS targets. With this release, this option has been removed. Instead, user has to explicitly trust the targets on first connect attempt.
Enhanced VCG Update method
VCG update no longer downloads the updates from VMware VCG Site. Instead consumes the VCG updates from SHD Update Repository (shd-download.vmware.com)
Enhanced VMware Cloud Foundation health checks
Health data collection is now direct from Cloud Foundation components instead of going via SOS.
Health report is enhanced to show reports in domain and global context.
VMware Cloud Foundation health report follows severities with label “Red, Yellow, Green, Gray”
RED – Critical
YELLOW – Warning
GREEN – Healthy
GRAY – Unknow or data could not be collected
Cloud Foundation health check can also be scheduled with new schedule job capability.
Migration based Upgrade Support
Users can now deploy new SHD appliance with option to migrate data from an existing SHD appliance running version 2.5.0 or above
This feature will allow you to move away from legacy ISO based in a VM SHD installations
You can use of this feature to get the latest patches/fixes for the Photon OS running in SHD appliance.
Software Update
NGINX server has been updated to nginx-1.16.1-4.ph3. This update addresses CVE-2021-23017
Default SSHD configuration changes
SSH Server on SHD appliance only supports strong Ciphers and hashing algorithms.
Only AES 128/192/256 bit ctr/gcm based Ciphers are now supported by SSH Server
Based on symptoms, VMware Skyline Health Diagnostics provides a Knowledge Base article or remediation steps to resolve the issue.
Self-service improves the time to get the recommendations to resolve the issue.
Quick recommendation/remediation helps to get the infrastructure back from failure and ensures that the business runs with a less disruption.
So, today i am sharing that on 1st December 2021 VMware have made available the 3.0 version of VMware Skyline Health Diagnostics Which comes with a few enhancements described above,
